  • Associate Consultant (AC) Role Description:

Associate Consultants are students from all schools of Penn, regardless of past consulting experience, who join Consult for America to learn about small business consulting in a collaborative team environment. Each AC will be staffed on one project, as well as getting equipped with the tools they need to succeed in their projects through a detailed training program.

  • How does the recruiting process work?

At the beginning of each semester we recruit new Associate Consultants to join our team of Consultants, Project Managers, and Board members. Interested applicants are expected to submit an online application and if applicable, will be asked to complete an interview.

Because we do not require previous consulting experience, ACs will receive valuable training in various areas of consulting, such as presentation tools and teamwork throughout the semester.

Our ACs typically spend 1-3 hours a week working on team and individual tasks for their project. We expect our consultants to display a high level of commitment and flexibility in order to generate excellent results for our clients.

We provide our consultants a real-world experience that truly impacts individual lives and the greater Philadelphia community. At the end of their project, our consultants have a better understanding of the issues faced by small business owners in Philadelphia and feel empowered to use their professional skills for good.

AC Training Process

All Associate Consultants will undergo a weekly rigorous training process. This Consultancy series will include workshops on networking, research, slide-making, marketing, financial modeling, and developing interview skills. We believe that all of these skills are essential to succeeding in today’s business landscape, including the demanding consulting roles that many of our alumni have chosen to pursue.

Professional Events

Speaker panels and professional events will be available for Associate Consultants. Each AC will also be assigned to a mentor, who is a experienced CFA member who will support them through the training process and beyond.
